Grenadine-Glazed Chicken Skewers: Sweet & Tangy

Sweet, sticky, and smoky in every bite—these grenadine-glazed chicken skewers are a surprising twist on classic grilled chicken. With caramelized edges and a fruity glaze, they’re perfect for summer BBQs or easy weeknight meals.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • lbs chicken thighs or breasts, cut into 11.5 inch chunks

  • ½ cup grenadine syrup

  • 3 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tsp ground cumin

  • ½ tsp smoked paprika

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Optional: bell peppers, red onion, zucchini, pineapple, mango

Instructions

  • Slice chicken into evenly sized chunks.

  • Mix grenadine, olive oil, soy sauce, garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper in a bowl.

  • Toss chicken in the marinade and refrigerate for 30 minutes to overnight.

  • Soak wooden skewers in water if using.

  • Thread chicken and optional veggies/fruits onto skewers.

  • Grill over medium-high heat, turning every 2–3 minutes for 8–10 minutes.

  • During the last 2–3 minutes, brush on extra grenadine syrup for a sticky glaze.

Notes

  • Thighs are juicier, but breasts cook faster—both work well.

  • Don’t baste too early or the sugars will burn.

  • Broil in the oven if grilling isn’t an option.

  • Add grilled pineapple or mango chunks for a tropical twist.
